During the late 1970s, a time in which Latina women were not being taken seriously on college campuses, our Founding Mothers knew that something drastic needed to be done to uplift the voice of the Latina community. What was needed was a support system, rooted in education and political change, in which women could thrive.

On April 29th, 1980, these seven women created Corazones Unidos Siempre/Chi Upsilon Sigma Latin Sorority on the campus of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, the first independent Latin sorority in eXistence.

28 years later, the dream of our founders lives on. Latina women a growing force on college campuses, in political arenas and in the professional world. However the struggle goes on to improve the standards we set for ourselves as women of all nationalities. We pride ourselves in our diversity.  Our organization connects women of all cultures and creeds, however, the depth of our diversity does not end there. Our true diversity lies in our differing ideologies, as we believe that a feminist movement is only possible when a woman is first true to her own beliefs.

The women of Alpha Pi Colony, born April 12th 2006, have become a part of this movement. We ask that you join us in the struggle, whether it be by becoming part of our organization, supporting us in our endeavors or by simply doing your part to help your own community.
